brianBrian Walsh is a graduate of the California Institute of the Arts and the Los Angeles High School for the Arts. He has studied clarinet with William Powell, Gary Bovyer, Debrah Kanter, and Val Grayson. He has studied improvisation with Bobby Bradford, Vinny Golia, and Ben Goldberg. He is the co-founder of Killsonic, a new music-experimental-free jazz collective that has been performing together for over nine years. They have just released their first self-titled CD.

In addition to PLOTZ!, Brian performs with: The Industrial Jazz Group, The Vinny Golia Large Ensemble, The Doug MacDonald Brass and Woodwind Coalition, and chamber music ensembles Enthaupthung, Inauthentica, and the Kairos Ensemble.

Past collaborations have included: Bobby Bradford, Vinny Golia, Nels Cline, Alex Cline, Harris Eisenstadt, Kris Tiner, Peter Epstein, Money Mark, Bright Eyes, Josh Ritter, Lorna Luft, The Kreative Orchestra of Los Angeles, Dan Clucas, Mark Appelbaum, Mark Menzies, James Newton, Larry Koonse, Muhal Richard Abrams, Butch Morris, Wadada Leo Smith, John Oswald, Gavin Bryars, Lynn Johnston, Eugene Chadbourne, Ensemble Green, The Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra, The San Bernadino Symphony, and the Riverside Philharmonic.

Brian is also and active private instructor and clinician. He teaches at Baxter-Northup Music in Sherman Oaks, Southern California's oldest music store, and has numerous talented and hard-working students in Valencia. He also teaches at the Oakwood School during their fantastic summer program: The Academy of Creative Education.
